The Apolipoprotein E (Apo E) e4 allele may protect against diabetic nephropathy in type-2 diabetes patients. Lower e4 allele frequency was observed in patients with kidney complications, suggesting a protective role.

- Findings suggest that Apo E genotype could be a significant factor influencing kidney complication risk in DM2 patients.
- Further research is warranted to elucidate the mechanisms behind the potential protective role of the e4 allele.
