[HELLP syndrome. A retrospective study of 36 patients]

The HELLP syndrome is a serious pregnancy complication which has an important multiorgan involvement with a consequent high rate of maternal and perinatal morbility and mortality. 36 patients admitted to the Hospital "Umberto I" in Frosinone have been included in our study. For every patient have been analyzed anamnestic data, symptomatology, therapy, complicances, delivery method, the neonatal outcome and the average time of hospital stay. In order to protect the mother and the fetus and at the same time to prevent the progression of the disease it is recommended to deliver after the 34 weeks' gestation. Before this gestational age, an expectant management is possible only in 3th level Centers.
