Background:

Russell-Silver Syndrome (RSS) is a rare genetic disorder causing growth delays and physical anomalies.
Understanding the cognitive profile of individuals with RSS is essential for effective support.

Observation:

A 20-year-old male with RSS diagnosed at age one underwent neuropsychological screening.
He exhibited a pattern consistent with nonverbal learning disability, including higher verbal than nonverbal intelligence.

Findings:

The individual displayed deficits in visual-spatial memory, fine motor skills, and math achievement.
He also experienced challenges with writing fluency, social interactions, attention, and emotional regulation, including mild depression.

Implications:

Neuropsychological assessment can identify specific cognitive weaknesses in RSS patients.
Academic accommodations and counseling are recommended to address learning and emotional needs.
Further research should explore cognitive processing patterns and intervention strategies for RSS.
