Summary

The 20th qualifying examination for certified perfusionists in extracorporeal circulation was held this year. As of November 2006, 569 perfusionists had successfully qualified in Japan.

Background:

Extracorporeal circulation (ECC) is a critical technique in cardiac surgery.
Perfusionists play a vital role in managing ECC procedures.
Standardized qualification ensures competency in perfusion practice.

Purpose of the Study:

To report the findings of the 20th qualifying examination for certified perfusionists.
To document the cumulative number of qualified perfusionists in Japan.

Main Methods:

The 20th national qualifying examination for certified perfusionists was administered.
Data on the total number of qualified individuals were compiled.

Main Results:

The 20th examination for certified perfusionists was successfully conducted.
By November 2006, a total of 569 individuals had qualified as certified perfusionists in Japan.

Conclusions:

The examination process continues to certify qualified perfusionists.
The growing number of certified perfusionists reflects the demand for expertise in extracorporeal circulation in Japan.
