Background:
- Flow injection-capillary electrophoresis (FI-CE) is a powerful analytical technique.
- Existing interfaces can be complex and costly.
- There is a need for simplified and efficient FI-CE interfaces.
Purpose of the Study:
- To describe an alternative electrokinetic injection interface for flow injection-capillary electrophoresis.
- To evaluate the performance of the proposed interface for transition metal analysis.
Main Methods:
- Development of a novel interface using tubular platinum and a tee connector.
- Utilizing the tubular platinum as both an electrode and a waste outlet.
- Application of the interface for separating transition metals (vanadium, iron, cobalt) with 1,10-phenanthroline.
- Determination of iron in steel samples.
Main Results:
- The proposed interface successfully enabled electrokinetic injection for FI-CE.
- Effective separation of transition metals including vanadium, iron, and cobalt was achieved.
- Accurate determination of iron in steel samples was demonstrated, validating the interface's utility.
Conclusions:
- The developed interface offers a simplified and effective approach for FI-CE.
- The platinum-based interface is suitable for analyzing transition metals and complex matrices like steel.
- This advancement provides a cost-effective and practical solution for analytical laboratories.
