  • To evaluate the effectiveness of VBG for morbid obesity in Saudi patients.
  • To assess long-term weight loss outcomes after VBG.

  • 39 morbidly obese patients underwent Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (VBG).
  • Weight loss was measured at one and four years post-surgery.
  • Mortality and failure rates were recorded.

  • One-year post-VBG: mean weight loss was 39% (males) and 33% (females).
  • Four-year post-VBG: mean weight loss was 42% (males) and 41% (females).
