Cox-Maze IV Procedure Concomitant with Valvular Surgery In Situs Inversus Dextrocardia: A Single-Center Experience in China

Main Results:

  • No significant baseline differences between the 30 Celsior and 30 St. Thomas groups.
  • Celsior group showed higher spontaneous sinus rhythm (77% vs 40%) and less defibrillation (17% vs 43%).
  • No significant differences in troponin I, inotropic support, ICU stay, or outcomes; no deaths occurred.

Conclusions:

  • Celsior is effective and safe as blood cardioplegia for aortic valve replacement in this pilot study.
  • Improved return to sinus rhythm and fewer reperfusion arrhythmias suggest better myocardial protection with Celsior.
  • Further investigation is warranted to confirm Celsior's performance in elective cardiac surgery.
