Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare fractional anisotropy (FA) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values in the basal ganglia and substantia nigra between PD patients and healthy controls.
  • To evaluate the predictive value and clinical utility of these DTI parameters in PD.
  • To determine if DTI metrics can differentiate PD from healthy individuals.

Main Methods:

  • A prospective, case-control study involving 151 subjects (73 PD patients, 78 controls).
  • DTI imaging was performed on all participants.
  • FA and ADC values were extracted from the caudate, putamen, globus pallidus, thalamus, and substantia nigra.

Main Results:
