Summary

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains, particularly type II, frequently produce toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1) and staphylococcal enterotoxins (SE). These toxins, especially SEA and SEC, are implicated in postoperative enteritis and toxic shock syndrome-like symptoms.
