Summary
18-Fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) is useful for T-cell and natural killer (NK)-cell neoplasms, detecting lesions in most patients. However, FDG-PET uptake is limited in cutaneous lesions and bone marrow involvement.

Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the effectiveness of pretreatment FDG-PET scans in patients with T/NK-cell neoplasms.
- To determine FDG-PET avidity across different histological subtypes of T/NK-cell neoplasms.
Main Methods:
- Retrospective analysis of pretreatment FDG-PET scans in 41 patients with T/NK-cell neoplasms (WHO classification).
- Included subtypes: PTCLu (n=11), ENKL (n=8), C-ALCL (n=5), AILT (n=4).
Main Results:
- FDG-PET detected lymphoma in 36/41 patients (88% overall positive rate).
- High positive rates observed in PTCLu (91%), ENKL (100%), and AILT (100%).
- Lower positive rate for C-ALCL (60%), with FDG-PET ineffective for non-tumorous cutaneous lesions and bone marrow involvement (20% positive rate).
Conclusions:
- T/NK-cell neoplasms are generally FDG-avid.
- FDG-PET utility is limited for cutaneous lesions and bone marrow involvement in these neoplasms.
