Apparent rotation and jazzing in Leviant's Enigma illusion

The Enigma illusion, a visual phenomenon causing perceived motion without real movement, is explained by a neural mechanism. This mechanism uses lines adjacent to an empty annulus to generate orthogonal streaming motion.
