Are neurotrophins important in ulcerative colitis?

Neurotrophin expression changes in ulcerative colitis (UC) correlate with disease severity. Upregulation in lamina propria cells and downregulation in nerves suggest neurotrophins are key in UC pathology and potential therapeutic targets.
