Summary

All three fiber post removal systems are efficient, but the diamond bur/Peeso reamer method is most effective for removing fiber posts. This study compared removal efficiency and effectiveness of different systems.

  • Efficiency and effectiveness were recorded for each method and post type.
  • Main Results:

    • No significant difference in removal efficiency (speed) was found among the three systems or between the two post types.
    • Effectiveness varied, with the diamond bur/Peeso reamer showing higher effectiveness than the Kodex twist/Tenax drills.
    • The D.T. Light-Post removal kit was the least effective among the tested methods.

    Conclusions:

    • All evaluated systems efficiently remove fiber posts.
    • The diamond bur/Peeso reamer combination demonstrates superior effectiveness in fiber post removal compared to the other tested systems.
    • Clinicians should consider the diamond bur/Peeso reamer for more effective fiber post retrieval.
