Late-onset dietary restriction (DR) in middle-aged rats improved antioxidant defenses and neural plasticity markers. Short-term DR conferred benefits comparable to life-long restriction, suggesting its potential for healthy aging.

  • Expression levels of antioxidant enzymes, HSP-70, NCAM, PSA-NCAM, and GFAP were analyzed.
