Abstract:
This special issue of Dental Historian represents an expanded version of a lecture given to the annual conference of the Lindsay Society for the History of Dentistry in Liverpool on 8 October 2006. It was felt that such a version would provide a helpful and informative basis for other researchers interested in these important members of the dental profession in the United Kingdom.
