Is endoscopic sphincterotomy avoidable in patients with sphincter of Oddi dysfunction?

Endoscopic sphincterotomy for sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD) was performed in only 23% of patients after a year of medical management, despite 54% showing delayed transit. Most patients undergoing the procedure were successfully treated.
