[The prospects for using new suture materials in emergency gynecology]

The results of using new bactericidal suturing material, Etikon (Germany), in 534 urgent surgical gynecological interventions are analyzed. Employment of new dissolving surgical threads helped reduce threefold the incidence of postoperative complications and almost 1.5-times the mean hospital stay after surgery. A favorable course of the postoperative period is explained by a more swift healing of the operation wound and reduction of the rate of postoperative complications.
