Gadolinium and nephrogenic systemic fibrosis: association or causation

Gadolinium contrast agents are increasingly used in MRI for patients with kidney problems. However, evidence suggests a link between gadolinium exposure and nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) in severe renal failure.
