Summary

Patients with left mesial temporal sclerosis (LMTS) show increased right mesial temporal lobe activity during verbal memory tasks. This suggests compensatory recruitment of the right side due to left hippocampal dysfunction.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate mesial temporal lobe activity patterns during a verbal memory task in patients with left mesial temporal sclerosis (LMTS).
  • To compare brain activity between LMTS patients and healthy controls using magnetoencephalography (MEG).
