Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic nephropexy for symptomatic nephrotosis.
  • To assess the outcomes of minimally invasive kidney fixation surgery.

Main Methods:

  • Laparoscopic nephropexy was performed on 8 kidneys in 6 women.
  • Preoperative assessment included intravenous urography (IVU) and isotope renography.
  • Both retroperitoneoscopic and transperitoneal approaches were utilized, with kidney fixation to back muscles.

Main Results:

  • Mean operative time was 139.4 minutes with minimal blood loss (30 mL).
  • No perioperative complications were observed, and mean hospital stay was 6.4 days.
  • Postoperative imaging confirmed successful kidney fixation and resolved obstruction in UPJO cases, with all patients reporting symptomatic improvement.
