Simvastatin with or without ezetimibe in familial hypercholesterolemia

Ezetimibe added to simvastatin did not significantly slow atherosclerosis progression in familial hypercholesterolemia patients. While it lowered LDL cholesterol, it did not impact intima-media thickness compared to simvastatin alone.

Conclusions:
- Combined ezetimibe and simvastatin therapy did not significantly alter intima-media thickness progression compared to simvastatin alone.
- Despite improved lipid profiles and reduced C-reactive protein, ezetimibe did not provide additional benefit in slowing atherosclerosis progression in this patient group.
