Abstract:
Disability benefits provided by the Social Security Administration are unique and distinct from other disability benefit programs. Physicians should be cognizant of these distinctions when evaluating a patient who has applied for Social Security benefits. Also, physicians must recognize the limitations of their expertise, as appropriate, when assessing disability.
