Abstract:
Incidents where prisoners are taken to a local hospital for treatment and use the opportunity to try to escape are rare, but not rare enough, the author reports, citing incidents where police, security officers, hospital personnel, or citizens were killed, wounded, or otherwise injured when the patient prisoner resorted to violence. The article presents a program in which police and hospital authorities can cooperate in doing a better job of preventing such incidents.
