A retroperitoneal mass with unique calcification was diagnosed as hyaline vascular Castleman's disease. This distinct pattern may aid future diagnoses of this rare condition.

Observation:

  • A 30-year-old woman presented with fever and abdominal pain.
  • CT imaging revealed an 8 cm retroperitoneal mass with arborizing calcification.
  • The mass showed homogeneous enhancement in the arterial phase.

Findings:

  • Surgical resection and pathological examination confirmed hyaline vascular Castleman's disease.
  • The observed arborizing calcification pattern is a unique characteristic.
  • This calcification pattern is rarely reported in retroperitoneal masses.

Implications:

  • The unique calcification pattern may serve as a diagnostic marker for Castleman's disease.
  • Radiological identification of this pattern could lead to earlier diagnosis.
  • Further research is warranted to validate this finding in larger cohorts.
