Perimesencephalic nonaneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (P-SAH) may stem from primitive venous drainage patterns and strenuous exertion like the Valsalva maneuver. These factors appear to predispose individuals to P-SAH, unlike aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (A-SAH).
