[The integration of psychotherapies: clinical and theoretical perspectives]

An emphasis is placed on the dual perspective--clinical and theoretical alike--from which integrative approaches arising in the field of Psychotherapy can be envisioned. Research should go along two particular lines: a) All elements that different treatments share, and b) The change processes such treatments are likely to give way to, in an effort to develop a consistent theoretical and epistemological framework. While awaiting for coherent developments to take place, however, a professional psychotherapist should avoid resorting to technical eclecticism on the one hand. On the other hand he or she should try to overcome the limitations of his or her own theory through a collaboration work with otherwise-oriented fellow therapists.
