Bones of the Upper Limb: Humerus

The upper limb consists of the arm, forearm, wrist, and hand bones. The humerus is the single bone of the upper arm region. Summary

Minimally invasive T-plating for proximal humerus fractures yielded medium to adequate results, not proving superior to other osteosynthesis methods. Further research is needed for optimal treatment recommendations.

Observation:

  • 100 operations on 99 patients using minimally invasive T-plating were analyzed.
  • Follow-up assessments utilized the Constant score and DASH score.

Findings:

  • The Constant-Murley score averaged 70, indicating medium to satisfactory outcomes.
  • The DASH score averaged 32, considered adequate.
  • No correlation was found between patient demographics/fracture type and score results.

Implications:

  • Minimally invasive T-plating did not meet expectations for superior outcomes.
  • The technique's effectiveness is comparable to other osteosynthesis methods, lacking clear advantages.
