Abstract:
Two inducible phages, LP52 and DLP 10716, were isolated from Bacillus licheniformis ATCC 10716. Molecular weights of DNAs of LP52 and DLP 10716 are 38.7 x 10(6) and 8.1 x 10(6), respectively. Restriction endonuclease EcoRI digested LP52 DNA and DLP 10716 DNA, yielding 15 discrete bands and no bands on agarose gel, respectively. These results suggest that DNA molecules of LP52 are homogeneous, while DNA molecules of DLP 10716 are heterogeneous.
