Purpose Of Review:
To review the current reproductive advances in insulin-sensitizing agents for treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome patients.
Recent Findings:
To date, among insulin-sensitizing drugs, only metformin should be used to improve reproductive function in well selected polycystic ovary syndrome patients. Preliminary data seem to show beneficial effects of thiazolidinediones in improving metabolic and hormonal patterns and in restoring regular menses.
Summary:
The use of insulin-sensitizing drugs offers a new perspective for the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome-related reproductive disorders. However, further data are needed before we can draw definitive conclusions regarding their clinical role.
