Hospital staff are willing to use new health information technology (HIT) when it is perceived as useful and easy to use. Factors like social influence and training also significantly impact their intention to adopt HIT systems.

Healthcare information technology (HIT) offers potential for improved quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
A key challenge is understanding hospital personnel's willingness to adopt advanced HIT systems.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate hospital personnel's acceptance of health information systems (HIS).
To develop and test a modified technology acceptance model tailored for the healthcare context.

Main Methods:

Extended the original Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with exogenous variables.
Employed correlation, explanatory, and confirmation factor analysis for model validation.
Utilized structural equation modeling (SEM) to assess causal relationships.

Main Results:

Perceived usefulness, ease of use, social influence, attitude, facilitating conditions, and self-efficacy significantly influenced behavioral intention.
Training indirectly impacted behavioral intention via ease of use and facilitating conditions.
Positive associations were found between self-efficacy and social influence, perceived usefulness and anxiety, and facilitating conditions and social influence.

Conclusions:

The proposed model explains a substantial 87% of the variance in behavioral intention.
Core constructs of technology acceptance models strongly influence hospital personnel's intention to use HIS.
