Do cortisol concentrations predict short-term outcomes in extremely low birth weight infants?

Low cortisol levels in extremely low birth weight infants do not predict adverse outcomes. However, high cortisol concentrations are linked to increased morbidity and mortality, including severe intraventricular hemorrhage.
