Abstract:
The meaning of construct validity and techniques for its estimation are discussed. Of particular interest is the appropriate role of factor analysis (and related techniques) in construct validation efforts. A comprehensive view of construct validity is encouraged, as well as a cautious interpretation of the construct validity evidence available for many existing instruments.
