Abstract:
The federal budget deficit is one of the more serious problems facing the U.S. economy, and reductions in the deficit have been mandated by Congress. Using a macroeconomic perspective, the authors discuss the potential direct and indirect effects of deficit reduction on the healthcare industry. Strategies for nurse executives to deal with pressures resulting from a changing macroeconomy are addressed.
