Abstract:
The natural course of unruptured cerebral aneurysms has not been well determined. Recent prospective and retrospective studies have shown that natural history is independently influenced by aneurysm size, location, and other factors. In this paper, the author reviewed literature on this issue and summarized the risk factors. It should be noticed that there is not enough data to demonstrate the natural course according to various characteristics of aneurysms with narrow confidence intervals. Outcome of large scale of prospective data should be carefully analyzed and combined together to establish reliable guideline for management of unruptured cerebral aneurysms.
