Nurses in South Dakota are moving forward with new models for nursing practice. Consensus-building efforts led to the development of a conference focused on differentiated nursing practice. The Nominal Group Process was an effective tool for the identification of strategies to implement new models of nursing practice. The concept of differentiated practice has significant implications for continuing nursing educators as they work with existing nurses to create a new pattern for nursing.
