Summary

Minimally invasive surgery for early gallbladder cancer can avoid open procedures. A laparoscopic radical cholecystectomy may be suitable for select patients, potentially preventing a second surgery.

  • Advanced stages (pT1b+) typically require open radical cholecystectomy with hepatectomy and lymphadenectomy.

Observation:

  • A case of suspected early gallbladder cancer managed with totally laparoscopic radical cholecystectomy is presented.
  • Preoperative IgG4 levels were normal, but final pathology revealed autoimmune cholecystitis.

Findings:

  • Laparoscopic radical cholecystectomy was successfully performed for suspected early gallbladder cancer.
  • This approach may obviate the need for a subsequent open surgical procedure.
