ER stress affects processing of MHC class I-associated peptides

Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, triggered by viral infection or cancer, impairs major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC I)-peptide presentation by reducing protein synthesis. This affects how the immune system recognizes stressed cells.
