Background:

Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder affecting sleep-wake cycles.
Psychiatric disturbances can co-occur with narcolepsy, impacting patient well-being.
The interplay between narcolepsy, psychiatric symptoms, and medication requires further investigation.

Observation:

A 14-year-old female presented with a distinct narcoleptic syndrome and concurrent psychiatric disturbances.
The patient experienced hypnagogic hallucinations, a common symptom in narcolepsy.
A history of psychiatric conditions within the family was noted.

Findings:

The patient developed delusional episodes.
Tricyclic antidepressant medication was administered.

Implications:

This case highlights the potential for medication and specific narcolepsy symptoms to trigger psychosis in vulnerable individuals.
