Summary

A rare locked pubic symphysis, where one pubic bone traps behind the other after pelvic ring injury, can be successfully treated. Simple maneuvers with common instruments effectively reduced a significant pubic bone overlap.

Background:

Lateral compression injuries of the pelvic ring are common.
A locked pubic symphysis is a rare complication of these injuries, involving entrapment of one pubic bone behind the other.

Observation:

The case involved a locked pubic symphysis with a significant overlap of greater than 4 cm.
This specific injury pattern is infrequently documented.

Findings:

The locked pubic symphysis was successfully reduced using straightforward techniques.
Readily available instruments were sufficient for the reduction procedure.

Implications:

This suggests that even severe locked pubic symphyses may be manageable with conservative methods.
