Area of Science:

  • Urology
  • Developmental Biology
  • Pediatric Surgery

Background:

  • Bladder exstrophy variants are uncommon congenital anomalies.
  • Few documented cases exist in medical literature.
  • Understanding these rare conditions is crucial for effective management.

Observation:

  • Presents a unique case of superior vesical fistula.
  • The condition is associated with split symphysis and dorsal chordee.
  • This specific combination of anomalies is rarely reported.

Findings:

  • Diagnosis and management are straightforward when associated anomalies are absent.
  • Surgical correction offers a favorable prognosis.
  • Patients typically achieve urinary continence after intervention.

Implications:

  • Highlights the importance of recognizing and managing bladder exstrophy variants.
  • Suggests that prompt surgical intervention can restore function and improve quality of life.
  • Contributes to the limited body of knowledge on these rare urogenital malformations.
