Background:

  • Pre-eclampsia can present with renal lesions resembling primary focal-segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS).
  • The nature and progression of these FSGS-like lesions in pre-eclampsia require further investigation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the presence and characteristics of FSGS-like lesions in renal biopsies from patients with pure pre-eclampsia.
  • To explore the relationship between these lesions, proteinuria, and clinical outcomes.

Main Methods:

  • Light microscopy analysis of renal biopsy sections from 19 patients with pure pre-eclampsia.
  • Classification of patients into groups based on the presence (Group I) or absence (Group II) of FSGS-like lesions.
  • Correlation analysis of lesion severity with proteinuria and post-delivery outcomes.
