Abstract:
Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) is not only generated in the circulation by renin and angiotensin-converting enzyme but also is produced locally in numerous organs. Local RAAS is the main pharmacological target to treat cardiovascular disease, such as hypertension, heart failure, myocardial infarction, and renal disease. Moreover, many novel molecules modifying RAAS are determined. This review summarizes the recent findings about the progress of the study of RAAS.
