Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the impact of a 5-lesson first aid teaching program on the performance of 6-7-year-old children in a simulated first aid scenario.
  • To assess the effectiveness of theoretical and practical first aid training for early elementary school students.
  • To determine if early childhood first aid education influences children's ability to manage emergency situations.

Main Methods:

  • A study involving 228 primary school children aged 6-7 years (102 girls, 126 boys).
  • 117 children received basic first aid training; 111 served as a control group.
  • Performance was assessed in a scenario requiring first aid for an unconscious victim of a cycle accident, with retesting after 6 months.

Main Results:

  • Course participants demonstrated statistically significant improvements in all tested areas compared to the control group (p<0.001 for all).
