[Inquiry: the actual situation of the young dentist]

A local department of the Verbond van Vlaamse Tandartsen started an anonymous inquiry in 1989. The major goal was to have a complete view of the actual situation of young dentists, practicing no longer than ten years. By having a more than 50% response, it was possible to draw some unexpected conclusions. The inquiry shows some interesting facts about his income, his expectations for the future and his affection for the profession. Questions about income, number of patients and number of hours, spent weekly in practice, were readily answered.
