Magnetic resonance imaging of the wrist

Until recently magnetic resonance imaging of the musculoskeletal system tended to be confined to the larger joints, such as the knee and shoulder. Advances in magnetic resonance technology, especially in the area of improved software and development of surface coils, have made feasible the imaging of smaller joints, such as the wrist. This article reviews the potential applications of magnetic resonance in evaluating disorders of the wrist.
