    Adults diagnosed with bilateral retractile testes in childhood often achieve normal testicular volume and fertility. A significant majority of married individuals in this study successfully fathered children, indicating positive long-term reproductive outcomes.

    Background:

    • Bilateral retractile testes is a common pediatric condition.
    • Long-term outcomes regarding fertility and testicular function are not well-established.
    • Previous studies have shown variable results on adult fertility after childhood diagnosis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To assess the long-term reproductive outcomes in adults previously diagnosed with bilateral retractile testes.
    • To evaluate testicular volume in adulthood for this patient cohort.
    • To provide data on fertility rates in men with a history of retractile testes.

    Main Methods:

    • A retrospective cohort study tracing 43 adult patients diagnosed with bilateral retractile testes in childhood.
    • Assessment of marital status and paternal status.
    • Physical examination including measurement of testicular volume in a subset of patients.

    Main Results:

    • Out of 43 traced adults, 74% of married patients had children.
    • Testicular volume was found to be normal in all 19 patients who underwent examination.
    • The study suggests a high likelihood of successful fatherhood and normal testicular function in adulthood.

    Conclusions:

    • Bilateral retractile testes diagnosed in childhood does not appear to significantly impair adult fertility or testicular volume.
    • Adult men with a history of retractile testes have a favorable prognosis for reproductive health.
    • Further research with larger cohorts may further solidify these findings on long-term outcomes.
