Abstract:
This paper describes the development of a prototype of a verbal processor for electric cochlear stimulation. This is a four-channel verbal processor that allows electric stimulation of the hearing organ with acoustic signals, e.g., verbal speech. Preliminary results of psychophysical investigations into the perception of electric signals by deaf patients are presented. It is concluded that devices of this type can be used for research purposes and cochlear implantation.
