Midbrain atrophy in subcortical ischemic vascular dementia

Midbrain atrophy, a shrinkage of the midbrain, is observed in normal aging and is more pronounced in patients with subcortical ischemic vascular dementia (SIVD) and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). This finding suggests a potential link between midbrain volume and these neurological conditions.
