Background:
Even after comprehensive counseling, patients change their mind about the decision to terminate a pregnancy. There are few data about the effect of laminaria placement and removal on subsequent pregnancy outcome.
Case:
We describe four cases of laminaria removal at 12-17 weeks of gestation with varying outcomes. Two of the four cases developed cervical dilation and delivered early with documented acute chorioamnionitis.
Conclusion:
Patients should be counseled that pregnancy termination begins with laminaria placement and that their removal could result in premature delivery.
