Abstract:
Natural products are the basis of time-honored folk medicines and many of our most successful pharmaceuticals, and have stimulated profound advances in organic chemistry. The breath-taking multiformity of natural products fuels the drug discovery process and provides abundant opportunities for creative research in organic synthesis. Today, the challenge and necessity of defining concise pathways for the chemical synthesis of natural products and related structures possessing useful biological properties compels research in organic synthesis. This review addresses selected, recent achievements in this field.
